For people with type 2 diabetes, the most common side effect of insulin is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Other side effects may include injection site reactions, and allergic reactions, including itching and rash. Some people may experience symptoms such as shaking, sweating, fast heartbeat, and blurred vision, while some experience no symptoms at all. That's why it's important to check your blood sugar often. Tell your doctor about all other medicines and supplements you are taking because they could change the way insulin works.
